The Old Folks Home

Cynthia I have to admit, I got a little "crispy" over the last two days but it was so worth it.

Oh wow, I've seen some of the old dwellings, but not any of these! This is a great picture.

Cynthia these were Anasazi ruins. Amazing that they are still standing considering that they disappeared from the region around 1300 AD. It was awe inspiring to see them. You can still see the fingerprints in the mud that they used to hold them together.

WOW , fingerprints-- makes me feel small and insignificant in this wonderous world. How many have gone before me . . .

Boy, that was hard trying to use my iPhone for posting. Screen far too small, scrolling was stupid, and I spilled my wine.

I gotta tell ya - and I hope I don't offend anyone - there was a whole lotta Caucasian dancing going on in front of the band (me too). The majority of the audience was white, between the ages of 40 and 60. But even Farmer Lew's 16 year old daughter had fun. She danced with her dad, she danced with me, and she was very impressed with the band's bass cellist.

HHandbasket and I admired all the ladies' jewelry and some of their attire. Vocally. We made sure to compliment each specific woman's necklaces and/or earrings. (Always nice to put a big smile on someone's face.)

The event caterer was from "Taste," a very good restaurant in Plymouth. I didn't get one, but I was very impressed with the "duck dog" - sausage made from duck. Made me warn the Cayuga flock when I got home: "Watch it, boys, you can be made into sausage!"

I have about six drakes too many. Most of the lady ducks have bald spots on the backs of their heads and a couple of really popular ducks have bare NECKS.
being the popular girl can have its pitfalls i guess

duck sausage, there is an idea!

Ron, I am not putting anything on it at the moment. I put triple antibiotic salve on it for a while, but she cleaned it off as soon as she could. I didn't think that would be good for her, so I have been washing it with soap and water then letting her bathe (swim. splash, Flashdance feet in the pool) and preen herself dry.

The lower part that is visable in the pool pic is pink in areas and black in areas, with some raw borders. The worst section is in my hand in the first pic. It is black and dry and does not weep but it smells like a dead animal. There is a break at the wrist joint and the outermost two segments are floppy. Maybe it will fall off.

I have had no problems with flies, maggots, or ants ... yet. I keep the pool and cage clean and bring her in to sleep on clean towels at night to keep ants off her and because the outside hospital pen is not coon-proof.

As much as it would be nice to have a celebrity duck, I don't care if she plays the piano, as long as she lives.

Linda, do you have it on the "mobile" version of BYC? There are two buttons at the very bottom of the screen ("desktop" and "mobile") and if you are on the phone, mobile is much easier, although it takes some getting used to and there are not as many options.

I wish I could have one of your drakes, I could give him a good home with a beautiful wife!

Yes, only girl ducks quack. My boss make a kind of raspy hissing noise. It's really becoming. I can get video if you'd like.

I always love to see video's, SCG, whether it is of your boss hissing or your boys!

Linda--retirement agrees with you!!
Duck sausage--- that must delicious. One of my all time fav meals was a roasted duck.

I've never had roast duck, but I would like to try, preferably on a duck I don't know, first.

you may have to amputate the wing at the break.

If there are areas that are dead blow it, there is probably damage to the circulation caused by the break/trauma. The rotting could cause to blood infections.
Thanks for mentioning this oz-- it needed saying and I couldn't come up with a kind way of putting it. BUt you did. Must be the practice you get with people.
