The Old Folks Home

I walked into Tarzhay today to p/u prescriptions. Well since CVS took over the Target pharmacies - they never bothered to get prescription refills okayed by Dr. Target pharmacy used to do all that.So will have to go back again.

But for something completely different I noticed they had a big sign that said if you got a flu shot you would receive a $ 5. Target gift card. So I got my flu shot today (early for me) before they could rescind the offer.

This has to be special since it was unexpected. I must ponder quite a while and use it wisely. Sadly they only allow one flu shot & $ 5.gift card per person. :(

Congrats on your broody hatch microchick.

Congrats on your peppers Peep!

I hope you feel better bunnylady.

Scg we have had a few frozen eggs here a few times. Some winters here are mild and some are down right blistering.

I found some hen and rooster fabric on sale at Wally world and I needed some new kitchen curtains.

The curtains are the same but I have one of my hooks a bit to high on the right window. I know it's awful but I can't see or do a straight line. And Dh don't care. hhahahha

LOL, can just see you going in time after time for another shot/card.

Have you ever had one of those spells when it seems like the planets all align with the single purpose of driving you crazy? I had one earlier.

It started when I went out to feed the animals. Just as I get out there, I get a text from BB2K - "I'm dying, come get me." She hadn't been feeling well when I dropped her off, so I wasn't really surprised. I told her I was feeding and would be there in a while. Get on with feeding, and get chased into the house by a thunderstorm. Twice. I already had a couple of errands that I knew I had to run when I picked her up, so this really had to get done before I left. Finally things settle down enough for me to get everything seen to, and as I am letting my now impatient horses out of their stalls, a wasp stings me on the back of the head, apparently simply for existing within the same universe. Now, I'm not, like, grab-an-epipen-and-dial-911 allergic, but me getting stung isn't a joke; if I don't take countermeasures, I will wind up with a swelling the size of a salad plate.so I dashed to the house, soaked a paper towel in ammonia, and applied it to the back of my head. Not very pleasant, but it works - only, I can't very well drive like that. After a moment's thought, I dug out an elastic headband and used it to hold the impromptu poultice in place. I'm so glad my car has tinted windows; I drove to my daughter's school looking like a half drowned hippie. I ditched the headband in the parking lot, but I was still pretty damp and disheveled when I went into the building. Nobody said anything, I fear they may be getting used to the "rode hard and put up wet" look. Ugh.

Finally home; the ammonia did its job and my head is not twice its normal size - though it feels like someone is trying to push one of my knitting needles into the back of it. I want to kill something. . . maybe a dish of ice cream? The way my luck is running, I'll wind up with brain freeze.
Oh, no, so sorry about the sting -- wasps can be real jerks like that.

Blood tests came back

One of my goats is diseased.... There is no auction house in town for me to take her to... Actually, I don't think anywhere in the state...

So either we need to butcher her, or pay her to be butchered, :sick for both. She is an 8 year old goat... Double :sick :sick

And it isn't a bad disease.... It is CAE, which is anything from a small cold, to full blown horrid death. She clearly had the small cold variety... But will now test positive for the antibodies for the rest of her life.... So no way for me to get her a "date" to rebreed her....

:barnie

So upset!

Luckily, the deseased goat, though the best looking, is the one the kids like the least and wanted to sell in the spring time.

That is sad!

Just called the only slaughter house within a 400 mile radius.... Or whatever it is......

Anyway, NOPE, they will not buy her for meat OR take her for meat....

This is your first test on this goat, tested only once fur CAE???

:

No proof drinking CAE infected goat milk harms humans...according to the above lab at least. I suspect tho, not going to be easy to find yourself a buck to refreshen by unless you get one for yourself and use him only on the CAE positive status doe(s).

Recall I suggested when you wanted does for milking, to go with a tested herd like Suzanne has up thar. My opinion but money well spent avoiding this exact situation.

You make me laugh. I am going to require a team of nurses to hold me down to get a shot.
