The Old Folks Home

I also got mine yesterday. Raven... your bird photo is soooo beautiful.

Awww, thanks, scg! I love my boy... hates being caught, but he's the biggest baby once he's in your arms, lol... fell asleep on the edge of the sink once when I was treating an injury... he's great with chicks too... super proud his pic was chosen, he deserved it...

Btw, you need some chainmail to deal with your turkey!

Scg that is terrible that she did that to you.  If she tries again pop her a good one on top of her head! She'll get the idea!

When my birds were young if they even attempted to bite me I made a uuuuaaaa sound and corrected them with a tap on their head.

All the pictures in the calendar were so beautiful! Thanks Raven for your beautiful contribution. :D

Thanks, chica! The pic itself was a chance shot, lol... didn't even realize how it look til I was going through them later on... :)

:barnie Stop it! Stop it! Stop it! :barnie You guys are making me want a calendar and bumper stickers now! If for no other reason than to see Raven's picture.

SCG that looks painful. Considering how hard a hen can bite when she is broody and compounding the power behind a turkey's beak, it makes me flinch.

Idea. Get an old tube sock or some other small cloth bag she can't see through and shove it over her head before you stick your hand under her.

I have a pair of welding gloves that I use if the situation warrants it.

Here you go... :D

How many of them do you have? And didn't Bama hatch some of this breed, too? I really love them but last time I looked for eggs I couldn't stomach the price.

Yes, bama has some, but I don't know how many and haven't seen any pics yet... his are laying now though, his wife posted pics of their eggs the other day on the Cemani thread...

I've got a nice trio, not perfect, but a great start... have a doz and a half chicks so far and a bator full at the moment... not all are keepers, I have a lot of culling ahead of me, but seeing some really nice chicks too... won't have anymore eggs for a while though, lol...

Sorry! She's all show though, not like your turkey... the sound she makes is godawful, first time I was scared to reach towards a broody, lol... she doesn't bite, surprisingly...

Can't think of anyone that has La Fleche, but those are cool... :idunno
