Touched my turkeys eggs today...

This was through the thick work gloves that I wear.

Time to break out the heavy leather wood stove gloves!

Have you thought about yelling "LOOK IT'S HALEY'S COMET" when you get near the nest? If you are fast, maybe you can grab her and throw her 10 or 15 feet. Just enough time to grab the bad egg and beat feet!

I don't think you guys understand. To get something over her head would require getting near this creature again. Even walking by the nest box, feet away from her, she will peck out at you, trying to kill you from 3 feet away. And she hisses.

No, thanks.

This may sound mean to some, but this may be an option for you... try one of these large baskets, or even a large plastic tote...

If you hold it by the bottom and keep it between you and her, you should be able to get it over her head and keep her from striking while you grab eggs... got anyone to help you hold it?

It is a BTB(Broody turkey Bucket)! I love it!

I'm thinking I should get my sword, shield and armour out. I saw the wildlife refuge successfully treat a porcupine's hurt foot with 2 volunteers and a set of heavy gloves and I get assaulted by a turkey reaching in a nest box. This is my life.

SCG there is a very simple solution to your turkey and stink egg problem - have your BF handle it!

I don't think he likes me that much.

I'm letting her sit on the stink. I tried to get back in there today and it was dangerous. I should ask CrazyNeighborLady if she's doing anything tomorrow.

Sometimes I think the wildlife rehabbers got it easy compared to the s**t we deal with! :gig

How many of them do you have? And didn't Bama hatch some of this breed, too? I really love them but last time I looked for eggs I couldn't stomach the price.

Yes we do. Ours came from the same source as Ravyns. We ended up with 7 females and 4 males. We sold 2 males that had some white feather tips.
They are laying like crazy now. We fired up the bator Monday and set what we had collected. We will probably candle tonight to check fertility.
Btw: there is some fabric on the crazy 24 hour auction thread that you may like. I posted your sn there but not sure if u get notifications
