Any new adoptions at your house? (Not that those big holes can be filled.)

Yep! We have Molly and Norman.

We adopted Molly in February from our neighbor who went into the nursing home and never came out. I spent an exasperating period of time trying to figure out what language she was trained in -- even Yiddish commads -- only to discover Molly is deaf. And pretty much blind. And came with a mouth full of rotten teeth (since remedied). Nonetheless, she was a godsend to have on board when our other two dogs passed suddenly. She's half mini schnauzer, a quarter Australian cattle dog, an eighth Parsons Terrier, and an eighth sneaky dog of unknown origin. She's a hoot, especially when she herds my DH out of the kitchen when I'm therein. We counter her deafness and dim sight by using HUGE theatrical gestures.

At the end of October we adopted Norman from a greyhound rescue site. He was in the system for a bit as he's old(er), balding patches, black and lame. The dermatitis from TX fleas has been abated and his lameness (due to corns from racing) has since been remedied with surgery and happy to say he's now all four on the floor and about to take away the advantage (and life, probably) of our errant yard cottontail. He adores Molly and slurps her head whenever he passes by her. They get along great and are rarely more than a couple of feet apart from each other. Norman was a recycle: His previous owner passed away and he was fostered for half a year or so waiting his forever home. Norman, unlike Molly, does possess an excellent command of commands. Yay!

Miss Heny, back to you. When I have to make a call, I learned to write out the first sentence. Like "this is so and so, I would like to know.......?" Once I get a few words out, then the rest seem to come easy. It's just 'starting out' that the brain goes numb or something.

My last dog passed January 1989 at almost 14 1/2. He was my breeding and had 9 points toward his championship but, hated riding in a car. So I decided to let him be. I haven't gotten another dog since. He was the last of my old ones to pass away. Just hurt too much and I quickly realized I couldn't afford medical bills for me and a dog, so just love on any dogs I come across . I deliberately go in Petsmart so I can ask customers if I can pet their dogs. I can feel my blood pressure lowering. No joke, I also smile for the rest of the day.

There is nothing like having a dog, or dogs ( the most was 14 adults and 13 puppies). But have a lot of memories to tide me over.

PS vet bills weren't bad when he was a pup but after 14 years they had skyrocketed and also the price of feed, supplies, equipment. Just went crazy.

We have one less did rehome Niki Mom's dog she forgot she had gotten her even
I could warm up to it no matter when she tried just didn't happen she is with a vet tech
I had talked with.. still have ticha the chihuahua x pom he is almost 4 he was recued and placed
with the women that cared for me after my stroke but found she did not want him after all
so I took him back Raudy is are shelti x corgi about 12 in pretty good shape he has allergies
that make him snore worse than a pug with bad nare's so he get benadryl at night that
helps... Mosse the Labrador that flunked being a service dog he is only 3 but came from a great breeder.
Fear-ah I am sad to say is on her last leg I want to see if she can make it to after christmas for
James and of course our rapidly growing Snowball reminding us how fun it is to have a puppy

Peep your dogs look so sweet. God love them!

We woke up to freezing temps in the house this morning. Our batteries died in the thermostat! Now have them charging and have to wait till some are charged enough to use. I'm sitting here shivering trying to type.
It's not bad enough to bring in the kerosene heater yet but close!
I hope some of them charge fast!
