Before we bought our place, a couple that works with, and are good friends of ours, lived in the city for years. They bought land, and had a home built out in the country, and kept touting the advantages, and how much they loved living in the country, to Dh. Shortly after we moved into our place, they needed salt for their softener, and Dh was going to get some, so he got some for them too, and we took it to them. They weren't home at the time, but it was a nice big home, and there was a lot of land around them.
Last night, they invited us to go visit them. We did. Since the time we dropped off the salt, a LOT more houses have gone in, sidewalks put in, and fences have been put up. Come to find out, it's a deed restricted subdivision with 1 acre lots. To them, they're out in the country. When we got home, I commented that while they have a nice house, I really like the layout of our home much better. Dh looked at me, and said "yeah, me too." "In fact, I like our whole set up much better." He got no argument from me.
