The Old Folks Home

Wickedchicken6, Buck is a perpetual motion machine. He was about 11 months old when that picture was taken. He LOVED the snow and was like a little kid. He and his sister are 4 years old now. Getting clipped by a neighbor's truck (not his fault, he did everything he could to avoid the little idiot when she got through the fence and decided to take on his truck) and breaking her pelvis slowed his sissy down a bit but not much. They are both like the old saying of diamonds and dynamite coming in small packages.

Yeah, I wish I had a tenth of their energy.

Anyone have any recommendations for a good hatchery? I need some chicks and the one i usually use has quit hatching polish for the year.

At this time of year. I am thinking you will have to go look at all of them, to find one that still has the chicks you want. Slim pickings this time of year.

They sell the SS sexed.

Just not the Spitz. Spitz are my favorite breed. Their personalities are excellent. They have a fun top hat, but it is small enough that you don't have to worry about it. Sometimes with the Polish they can't see, or their top hat gets wet when they drink...whatever.

None of those problems with the Spitz.

Also, my Spitz roos have all been very nice. No human agression.

Also, I had, for multiple months, 4 hens penned up with 2 roos, and the roos did not fight AND did not overbreed the hens! Pretty nice!

If i were getting as many breeds as i want, i would go for it. But trying to limit myself to two breeds means i only have room for my favorites. But i have considered getting the Spitz.
