My name is Phil I live in Anchorage Alaska. I am a new chicken owner and love having birds. We have 6 now 4 buff orpingtons 1 silver lace and 1 cinnamon queen. I plan on getting more next spring. me and my wife are retired and live a mostly subsistence lifestyle hunting,fishing,harvesting what we can. My favorite thing to do is spend time on my boat.

Alaska, this is great. I have been watching some shows on Alaska. What are those critters you are holding? Squid? Octopus? Both..lol?

A great end to a crappy week here. Came home from work today to find my favorite chicken dead under the coop with a broken egg hanging out of her butt.



She had a broken leg when I got her as a chick. I casted it, separated her, and gave her chicken PT for 2 weeks until she was better. As a result, she never thought she was a chicken; she'd follow me around like a dog, and try to sneak into the house. She was never part of the flock and would always be off wondering around by herself or with me if I was outdoors. I am going to severely miss my buddy.

So sorry. She looks like my Penny I had. The speckled Sussex are so pretty, and sweet. She's sounds like she was quite the pet.

Welcome Phil!!!! Thanks everyone. The LPN program was such a last minute thing. When I went to see mom she was doing better now that they are draining her lung and have her on Morphine.

Yes another chicken nurse! LOL It has been so hectic here and with school I am sure I will be on less. I will for sure keep you up to date with everything and try to keep up to date with all of you. Ya'll have been so supportive and caring with everything I am going thru and I thank ya'll so much.
