The Old Folks Home

Subtleness always seems to be your strong trait....you cracked me up! I needed that right now. I would love a pharmacist like you.

I do have an odd sense of humor. I'm just trying to keep it despite losing a good friend of mine. We had a fox attack early this week, so I've kept everyone from free ranging. I feel bad my buddy didn't get to do it one last time, so everyone (even the goats) are out there free ranging right now. (I had to come inside to get something)

Yup, a nice rectangular parcel on the map, but all bumpy up and down land with two very nice, large flat spots. A vineyard backs up to one side of the parcel. Seasonal streams over huge, granite boulders to make lots of waterfalls. The stream bed is even gorgeous dry, this time of year. Somebody has placed a concrete bench by the largest waterfall spot, perfect for a cup of coffee and a nice smoke. The one-room vacation cabin on the other side of the parcel is CUTE and its huge, two-level deck is wonderful.

The power pole with 110 and 220 ac outlets is perfectly placed for a manufactured house someday. My offer includes a specific request for any knowledge the seller may have about septic restrictions, because they have owned this property a long time but never built on it..... They parked an RV there for months at a time..... I'm looking into incinerator toilets.

My contractor friend was horrified at my suggestion we turn the shed into a coop (so I could get most of the flock housed there quickly) but with a thirty day escrow, he said we could get something suitable built fairly soon. Which is fine <*she said, grudgingly*> as I have a better spot selected for a coop and large run, anyway. (Had the other property sale gone through, I wouldn't have been able to do anything until mid-November.)

Patience is not my strongest suit.

The offer was delivered to the seller this morning.

I hope that you get this one.

Its a shame I did not live closer. It would be fun to have a coop building day - Have a chicken meet-up and get a score of BYCers put to work for 2 or 3 hours as a house warmer.

Septic-- here the septic fields are a big to do and truly I think very over rated. For the $30k just for the installation, I do think I would have liked another optionas I have to have this thing pumped outevery 1--2yrs anyways, so it certainly doesn' earn the $30K to install it.

Is a composting type posible??

UPDATE on the dw . . ..

New one sits in hall, blocking closet . . no biggy.

Due to all the hook up changes for the new model I convienced DH to finish ( yes, finish) evaluating the old DW for issues. After checking the circuit breakers, hmmm, it now has power. OMG. THen he evals each area, power. DOes a test run. WORKS.

Then I load the top and run it on pot/pans which hasn't worked for years-- it works!!! Waiting for the cycle to finish and reload.

Glad, sooooo glad to have the DW up and running. . . . but geeez, couldn' he have done theis BEFORE buying a new one???

Perhaps I will get a real kitchen island outof this with a second DW and a second sink . . .. . how long will I have to wait for THAT one????
