The Old Folks Home

scg, I too can't fold a fitted sheet worth a darn. Yes, my grandmother, and mother tried teaching me. Yes, I've watched several youtube's on it. Pfffft. Mine don't come out looking anything like theirs. Folding T shirts, I fold them in the middle lengthwise, so the sleeves touch, fold the sleeves in, and then fold them down. I fold underwear in half, then half again. What drives me up a wall is that Dh comes along, and re-folds his T shirts like they do in the stores. He re-folds is underwear so they look like they do in the stores too.

Good morning all my critter loving friends!
I've been communicating with some of my contacts in the Houston area and they assure me that tho Houston is not 100% under water, there are huge areas that are and that closer to the coast there are entire towns that are just "gone". Remember, there was a catagory 4 that hit before the inland flooding. One friend told me it's now like being caught in a slow motion thunderstorm that just won't go away. Anyway, help is pouring in from all over but the problem is there are many areas, especially along the coast that, even tho the flooding isn't an issue, they just can't get in to. The other problem is resources. Since Houston is an ongoing mess, the hardest hit coastal areas are just mostly fending for themselves. I was told that the authorities have started letting private rescue orgs into some of those areas to help the animals. If any of you are wishing to help here are some contacts;

FOR THOSE WANTING TO HELP
This is a list of all the rescue organizations in the Houston area. Keep in mind many of them are probably under water.

God bless you all and have a great week :hugs

From what I understand there is a large "staging" area where many rescue organizations have gathered such the Northshore Animal League, Friends of Animals, etc. just north of the designated disaster area. Many of these can be contacted thru their websites. Some are seeking volunteers but all are needing extra resources.

There is an amazing organization "Austin Pets Alive" that are boots on the ground right now in the Houston area doing their best to help and rescue all they can. You can learn more about them by checking out their FB page or going directly to their website.
Ok, SCCCCRRRREEEEECCCHHH, I'm done, dragging away my soapbox now. ;)

(off to go scoop the poop, play with my chickies, and be thankful)

I hope you didn't bet on that. They've watched this particular ripple of energy travel from Africa, all the way to the Gulf of Mexico, cross across Florida and now park itself off Georgia, and it still can't get its act together (no complaints here!). Not expecting much, either way; almost guaranteed some rain, though.:confused:

If Harvey ever does what he's supposed to do and moves north and inland and dies, he'll stop shearing off the development of that tropical burp sitting off GA. Then it might actually develop into something meaningful for you Bunny. I can only imagine that all the folks over there in the Carolinas would just love to share some of that TX wealth... right? :oops::smack

DH's parents live below Lake Livingston. They were pretty dry but today they are releasing water from the lake and the water around their house is rising. Deck is underwater, but none in house, yet. Brother and sister in law are staying with friends above Port Lavaca. They have water in their house, now. No power or water. Their home and business in Port Lavaca is underwater. Still waiting for other family and friends to check in. Prayers appreciated.
