The Old Folks Home

DH's parents live below Lake Livingston. They were pretty dry but today they are releasing water from the lake and the water around their house is rising. Deck is underwater, but none in house, yet. Brother and sister in law are staying with friends above Port Lavaca. They have water in their house, now. No power or water. Their home and business in Port Lavaca is underwater. Still waiting for other family and friends to check in. Prayers appreciated.
It is crazy crazy....

As well as crazy as to what areas are fine... my parents are fine and dry. My mom actually drove herself to exercise today.. .... ARG!

I hate not being there to take care of them.

(They are in the middle of Houston)

Prayers sent for everyone who has family and friends or who are being directly impacted by this horrible storm.

I have an old friend who lives in eastern Texas. I emailed her before Harvey made landfall and told her no heroics. Head for dry land and stay there. I haven't heard back from her. I've known her since 1980 and hope she is safe.

Been busy here and trying to play catch up. Less time on the computer, more quality time with my hammer. My arms and hands finally healed up. Lu got her stitches out last Thursday and is healing well. I'm trying to get work caught up out in the coops and still have the new roof and insulating to do this week. Today I built new nesting boxes and a new feeder and got them installed.

Hope every one is doing well and your flocks are healthy.

Pictures? You could share on my thread, helpful hints for building a coop.

I could do that. I made a PVC feeder trying to cut down on waste. The plan is to mount it over a trough that will catch any spillage. I've drilled two inch holes in the main pipe but I'm going to have to enlarge them to three inch as I was watching the cockerels tonight and they aren't liking it when they hit their combs on the edge of the holes. I'm also working on dialing in the angle to get the best gravity feed on the crumbles. Those little feathered fiends are eating me out of house and home but knock on wood, nobody has died lately so I'm not complaining about the feed bill. Too much. I'll get some pics tomorrow.

My parents are in Houston... I want to check in on them at night before I go to sleep...so that *I* can sleep well.

But they go to sleep early, and I don't want to wake them.

I will check in the morning.

I just wish that Harvey would move faster, and dump rain on a new spot...not the same area over and over.

My parents are in the middle of Houston...they have been dry so far... :fl

My dad is infirm... so there is only so much my mom can do. Of course my mom isn't worried... she grew up there, and used to have parties during hurricanes.

And THAT is what worries me...that she doesn't worry, and might end up doing something stupid.
