The Old Folks Home

DH's parents live below Lake Livingston. They were pretty dry but today they are releasing water from the lake and the water around their house is rising. Deck is underwater, but none in house, yet. Brother and sister in law are staying with friends above Port Lavaca. They have water in their house, now. No power or water. Their home and business in Port Lavaca is underwater. Still waiting for other family and friends to check in. Prayers appreciated.
Prayers from here.
Have a supervisor at work from here just moved there a couple weeks ago. Haven't heard how his family is doing yet.

Hope your folks are OK, AK... Now that it's back offshore, the rain amounts are picking back up again :( More water over the same area that needs no more. At least now the bands aren't reaching quite as far inland or in such a wide sweep. Still not good for those in or north-east of Houston. They are finally getting some pics and info up about the area down south of Houston that took the initial landfall. Pretty bad down there.

@Alaskan watching 'tiny house, big living' , in your back yard I think. Young couple leaving a converted pole barn house that's big, and building a yurt to live in that's tiny....
You have some .... up there don't you?

lots of Yurts up here, as well as other odd house types. There was, maybe still is, a yurt seller in town.

On my drive home today I passed this really nice big house (4k square feet?) it has been done for 2 years now... they still haven't put on the house wrap and siding.

I had heard that those tiny house people were running around town...maybe a month back I think...probably is here.

@Latestarter I haven't wanted to look. I just call my sister and my mom... every day....

still good.

Good morning everyone!!!
Prayers sent for everyone who has family and friends or who are being directly impacted by this horrible storm.

I have an old friend who lives in eastern Texas. I emailed her before Harvey made landfall and told her no heroics. Head for dry land and stay there. I haven't heard back from her. I've known her since 1980 and hope she is safe.

Been busy here and trying to play catch up. Less time on the computer, more quality time with my hammer. My arms and hands finally healed up. Lu got her stitches out last Thursday and is healing well. I'm trying to get work caught up out in the coops and still have the new roof and insulating to do this week. Today I built new nesting boxes and a new feeder and got them installed.

Hope every one is doing well and your flocks are healthy.

HI Micro!!! :hugs Glad to hear you are healing. Now, don't overdo! I know, I know, I've been hard at getting things finished up too. I just figure I can recoup once the white stuff arrives (as long as I don't have to do too much shoveling)

My parents are in Houston... I want to check in on them at night before I go to sleep...so that *I* can sleep well.

But they go to sleep early, and I don't want to wake them.

I will check in the morning.

I just wish that Harvey would move faster, and dump rain on a new spot...not the same area over and over.

My parents are in the middle of Houston...they have been dry so far... :fl

My dad is infirm... so there is only so much my mom can do. Of course my mom isn't worried... she grew up there, and used to have parties during hurricanes.

And THAT is what worries me...that she doesn't worry, and might end up doing something stupid.

Hi Al :frow An added prayer for your folks of course. It must be so hard to be so far away and not be able to actually do anything to help :hugs
