The Old Folks Home

Guineas will clear the ticks out in no time. Just saying.
I have 14 guineas! But they just hatched July 11th, and they were too little to let out when the ticks were at their worst. Only recently have they started to range around the property. But yeah, i heard chickens like ticks too.

Are all these ticks in your yard, or are you going out into the woods?

Yes. Seriously. We have seen ticks so bad that we will walk across our front yard, come inside and pulled 5 or more off of our legs. I got in an argument with somebody once who swore that you could only get ticks by walking in tall grass. I said if that was true then why could I stand in the timber leaning against a tree, look over and see one crawling across the bark heading right for me? I've also seen them crawling up the posts in our barn. Granted, the bulk of them like to hang out on the underside of grass and bushes but ticks around here break the rules. You are not safe anywhere. We keep our trails mowed and the grass short. Don't matter. You can still find ticks on your shoes and socks. My doctor told me that there has been such an increase in Lyme cases here in MO that the University of Missouri at Columbia (affectionately known as Mizzou) School of Medicine has initiated a study concerning the increase in tick born infections in the central part of the state.

I would love to have a flock of Guineas just so they could clear the ticks out of the yard. Heck I wish the chickens could free range and clear them out but with the number of wild predators, birds of prey and our own stupid dogs, anything that free ranges here won't be around very long.

micro, I bought a USB mouse for my laptop, and use it. Now my brain doesn't have to work so hard when switching back and forth from laptop to computer.
DH bought a RCA Galileo for me with the detachable keyboard. I download a lot of books and love the bigger monitor screen of the larger tablet along with being able to set back on the sofa and use the computer. I just enjoyed the touch screen so much that I forgot what using a regular mouse was like.

The touch screen is just so convenient. I told my husband that I would seriously like a regular monitor with a touch screen.

The only problem, is don't try to use a touch screen when you are eating buttered popcorn...:sick
I almost bought some touch screen monitors for computer replacement this year. They are still a bit pricey though--hard to get the boss to go for it

I've read a few books on my phone, not real into it, I know some love it, I just really like real pages, real books, guess I'm old school :old
