The Old Folks Home

Lasagna , I could eat it three meals a day... love it heavy on the ricotta, though we usually use cottage cheese.

Sneezing can be bad, I once yrs ago sneezed and threw out my back, pinched sciatic nerve, was laid up for months worse pain I've ever dealt with. Chainsaws and trees can be unforgiving, is he OK?

See on here many times, pulleys, lots and lots of pulleys on here, seems beings this is a poultry website people would talk about their pullets, but many love their pulleys :lau
Thanks for asking, BC. Husband is suffering in silence with 2 broken ribs. Tough old bird! I swear he has more grey hair than he did last week. He got a pain shot today and a 5 day supply of pain pills. He tried throwing a frisbee for the dog but that did not last long. I am glad he didn't cut himself with the running chain saw!

Hope he is on the way to healing soon:hugs (that's a very gentle hug)
I was in the coop yesterday when I heard a "crack!" and felt the ground shake. Knew exactly what it was. DH was bored and went after another Jack Pine! At least he doesn't climb ladders anymore. A friend of his gave him one of those big metal "staircases" that they use in the warehouses. He got it when he was working at Walmart and they were going to throw it out. He leaves it parked against the porch roof all winter so he can get the snow off easier (that roof has a lousy pitch). Only problem is he also leaves it parked there whenever he's not using it for a while. I'm waiting to come out some morning and find a bear sunbathing on the porch roof.
BTW-did I ever tell the story about the time he dropped one on his truck? :lau

Cap, sorry about your husband. Hope he gets over the worst of the pain soon. Ribs can take time to heal.

Ron, I have defective chickens. Mine don't grow waffles. What a gyp. I should be getting eggs and waffles from them, and right now, I'm not even getting eggs. Hmph!

DD, and I put plastic up around the coop today. I went to get tarps, but they didn't have the ones I wanted, and they didn't have enough of the size I decided I could use instead. I didn't want to run all over to get enough, SO I started looking at the plastic used by painters for drop cloth. Found one that was reasonably thick, so that's what I got. I'm still kicking myself. It's way too flimsy, and wanted to tear where it was stapled. We doubled it over where we stapled, to get it to stay. I will be getting the tarps.

While getting the plastic put on, we discovered a rat tunnel. Got it dug up, and refilled with dirt. I'll get some bait, and deal with that too. I was told by a neighbor, that before this house was built, there was a trailer on here. When they went to tear down the trailer, a lot of rats came running out of it. We have plenty of hawks around here. Do they just eat chicken? There shouldn't be many rats, or snakes if they were doing their job. The slackers!
