Ron, only found the tunnel. Actually, I've seen no evidence (droppings in, or around the feeder) of the rat, which is why it was a bit of a surprise.

I fought rats for two years here. They have been gone for almost two years now

I ate the leftover beets for lunch and can confirm the issue was the fartichokes.
