Cap nice riverfront!

Sorry about y'all's feet. Ouch!

Ron have you tried those wooden shoe stretchers?
I used to have my sister break in all my new shoes cuz my feet are so wide most shoes don't fit.
I have size 10.5 D width. Sometimes i get mens sneakers, they are wider.

Pumpkins? ..... my birds , not sure about these one's but in the past the birds would barely touch them, toss them in the pressure cooker for a little bit and they'd gooble them up.
I bet this bunch I have now will tear apart pumpkins. I've been feeding them the smaller mangel beets, carrot/tater size with big green tops, for a couple weeks now. Disappearing, thought I'd have to shread or chop up the beets for them to eat them, nope, they're gobbling them up, caught one chomping down the other day

Eating the tops, stalks, roots everything.
I'll post a pic when I dig the big ones up, quite a few are the size of football's.
Pumpkin is a bit hard for them to eat when it is fresh. When it gets older outside the flesh will soften up.
I cut a hole in the pumpkin and the chickens will spend the first day or so eating the seeds. After that the flesh softens up and they will eat that. eventually the pumpkin will be eaten form the inside out. They do not eat the skin thouh

Lucky you BC!
My teeth started breaking off and crumbling in my early 20's. Both of my parents had bad teeth. Mom had bridge and dentures in her 30's and dad just pulled his own.

I only got one very small pumpkin off my vine. So I gave it to my son for his daughter.

Scg I hope they get your power back on Sooner.
Sorry about your teeth, that must be awful. :hugs

Ron, don't give up on me. I got my spring lid jar all ready. Was going to activate my starter, and realized all I had was self-rising flour. I KNEW I had other flour, and was looking high, and low for it. I commented to my daughter that I must really be getting old, because I had forgotten where I put my flour. Oh yeah, she had needed flour, and took mine, but forgot to tell me. Thanks kid! I'll get more. I'm determined I'm going to do this bread thing, come heck, or high water.
You will get it going!

I can't wait to see how it goes for you. I am mailing a start off to Texas today

My mom had us (3 kids) I guess way back before they knew you need calcium especially when pregnant . So that ruined her teeth, she needed full dentures at 40. Later she found out she had osteoporosis , my dad too. Older sister and I have it. Turns out there is very little calcium in ice cream - :confused:who knew??

@CapricornFarm blood in ear?:thThat's not a good thing to wake up to, sending prayers that it's nothing dramatic and an easy fix. Feel better.

Making sourdough biscuits today. Slept too late to make them this morning so they will be for supper tonight.:drool

You guys are making my mouth hurt talking about bad teeth.

It's grey and gloomy here this morning. Foggy. 48 degrees. I'd be happy with a little snow to break up the monotony. Just told DH to brace himself, here comes the days upon days of not seeing sun.

Pumpkin. I grow sugar pumpkins. To process, I cut them in half or quarters, put time in a glass square casserole dish with about a half inch of water in it, cover with plastic wrap and pop em in the microwave until done. Takes a bit of time but when they come out you can scrape the meat off of the skin and put it in a colander or sieve to drain off the excess liquid. I then freeze it or use it immediately.

I was born and raised in central IL not far from where Libby's processed pumpkins that were grown and trucked in from fields in the next county. This time of the year there are semi loads of huge pie pumpkins being hauled through town in route to Morton and the factory and it wasn't unusual to have them roll off the top of the open semi. You had to be careful and not follow too close to the trucks but on occasion, one would survive the fall. My dad witnessed such an occasion and on an impulse, stopped, scooped up the 20+ pound pumpkin and brought it home.

I'll never forget helping my mom process that pumpkin. She had never done one before so it was peel, boil, strain, peel boil strain repeat.

Microwave method is a lot easier but I still have fond memories of the 'road kill' pumpkin pies we ate from that pumpkin.
