The Old Folks Home

I don't have any vet wrap! I want some..found out a local feed store here in town has it. Have seen many photos now with the vet wrap, and, it sounds like it would be a lot easier than what I used..people bandages and health tape.

Always together. :) There's my RIW..wish she would start laying. She's pretty close.

So sorry about the bumble foot Cynthia! I hope they heal quickly!

Only if you have the carpentry skills!!

in the past couple of months, I have been more "social" IRL than I have been since I retired. My good friends used to "depend" that I would be home any time they called or dropped by.

Looking for property has been part of it, but it got me off my butt and out into the community. I've become a "regular" at The Pub - daytime only. I can follow threads on BYC on my iPad there, play some computer games (found a great Jigsaw Puzzle application I enjoy very much) AND meet a lot of local folks. They have given me great information, good contacts, and I enjoy -for the first time in many years - real, face-to-face conversation. Plus, I have to bathe and dress, y'know, to be in public.

I am not into wine tasting as a past-time. It's nice to hang out some place where patrons are encouraged to hang out, and something other than wine is available to drink. i can drink diet soda, water, cranberry juice all day if i want. (But there are some really great beers on tap...) The Pub food menu is quite good. It turns out the property next to the place I'm buying belongs to one of the Pub owners (it's a vineyard with a residence on site).

I've picked up contacts for iron fence/gate folks, tree removal, local honey from a bee-keeper who would love to put a/some hive(s) on my property next year. Chatted up a goat farmer who sells an expensive breed but does have "pet quality" stock available (through heavy culling...) when I get around to wanting goats. Plus I am learning a great deal about the community in which I live.

The Pub has wi-fi but is an AT&T dead spot for cell service. <*Mwaahaahahaaaa!*>

Anyway, I am just reporting that I am no longer a house-bound by choice slug.

Your chickens are gonna miss you!!

Linda you got lucky, there were still a couple small thistles flowering. I was so happy to come across them because this is what I saw in my mind. I can add text to this and change fonts if you don't like the font I used. If you would like a different one, let me know which one. Also let me know if you like/don't like the "glow" around the lettering.
WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awwwwww . . . nothing like a good friend. Nice job on the banages. Definitely invest in vat wrap-- other generic brands too--- I use on chicks for ID and 100 other things. Much easier to remove too.

Quote: Foot bath must feel soooooo gooooooood.

Nothing like vet wrap-- as useful as duct tape.

Ha ha, I just love that last photo of the leghorn! Tooo cute. Just standing there, waiting for her towel after she's done.

I didn't have any vet tape, but plan on getting some today, yesterday was Sunday, my Cal Ranch store was closed. I see on the net that they have them. I may get some on e-bay after I buy a bit at the store..it looks like you get more for the money.

My DH was great helping me with all of this. We did cover their heads. They hold pretty still considering what's going on with the foot at the time!

Thanks for all of the photos SCG, very helpful. Cutting that tape like that looks like it would make it a lot easier than wrapping it around like I was. Probably a lot more comfy for the chicken.

I always keep several rolls on hand-- that way I don't need it.

It's when I run out , that I do need it.

Cynthia you can get it at grocery stores too it's just for people instead of pets but it is the same stuff. It might even be less expensive at the grocery store since it isn't a "specialty pet" item there. ;)

At Amazon - and of course I am an amazon mum lol so I add it to my subscription and pay 64 cents a roll.
