Quote: Yup!! My kids need to know how to work hard. No whining. Get dirty. Wash the dishes. Wash and hang the clothes. Hold a lamb to bandage a leg. Feed a bottle to the lamb. Find good eats in the garden . . . . not many kids do this around here.

Cub scout leader asked if her kids could come to the farm in the spring when the babies are born. . . . . hmmmm. . . .will they do all the chores??

Quote: I was starting to wonder . . . . my kids still crab about all the work. Except for the chopping of fire wood and building a fire!!

DO we all get one now??

Not to mention that home grown birds taste much better than anything you get in the store, plus you know they had a good life.

I only eat meat that I've raised and that we've butchered ourselves, with the exception of very occasional moose or deer that BF hunted.
Need to go outside in a few minutes to make dinner. 'm hungry. I

The funny for the day:

THis is a good one Ron!! ROTFL

SCG, the guy around here with fancy goats has "Kiko" goats. My iPad won't "do" Flash intros, so I can't enter his web-site unless I go into my office and use the PC. (lazy person here, holding off on goats for a while, too, so....I haven't been.)

www.bellranchkikos.com - interested in giving me your thoughts, some time? He said he'd have "pet quality culls" for a "local" like me, if I was interested.

Whatcha think?

The goats are adorable, but I don't know much about meat goats, just a bit about dairy goats. I did notice his herd was horned, and I had suggested to you to get a dehorned goat for your and the goats safety. I'm also not sure if meat goats have the same longevity as dairy lines, because they are, well, terminal... but that's just my own ignorance.

If there was a way to get 2 dehorned goatlings from these people and you were ready for goats, I don't see why it wouldn't be worth a shot.

He also sells semen. I'm not sure I'm ready to venture down that road, but that certainly seems easier than trying to get the goat in the car again and on her way to the chosen boyfriend.

Dang, that was FAST! Meat goats, huh..... Doesn't quite fit my profile, if'n ya know what I mean.....

He has suggested two does, in case I wanted to have milk later, instead of two wethers. Hmmm.

Oh well. Thank you SO much for checking!!
