A little prayer for all my friends that you all are having a wonderful Christmas and stayin' safe and warm, ESPECIALLY you SCG! We're getting the wind now and our actual temp for high was -5 and dropping now. They changed the forecast and they're sayin' this is going to stick around until the end of the week before we get above zero and lose the crazy windchills.
My crazy pullets have decided on the shortest days during the coldest snap we've had so far this year to start laying and they are dropping eggs EVERYWHERE! At least a couple of them have figured out what the nestboxes are for. It's a challenge to get to them before they freeze. Even with the heater everything is freezing if it's on the floor.

Silly girls! Pullet eggs are fun, but much more fun if they aren't frozen.

That is a great one! I hadn't heard it before.

My paternal grandfather always said "the proof of the pudding is the digestion thereof " not as cool a phrase... but the same meaning.

Getaclue we are lucky to see temps like those in July.

we got 3 or 4 inches of snow but it's the wind and bitter temps that really sting right now-temp is 1.4 degrees F at 3:53 am Tues.

Good CRUNCHY morning everyone!
A nice -21 f this morning with a -41 windchill. Already had to go out and give the chooks some "liquid" water and warm oats. All good. Crazy pullets already fighting over the best nestbox. Guess I'll have to go back outside in a little while and collect eggs. Silly kids.
Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.
Special wish for SCG and all in the northeast. Sorry to be sending this cold your way on top of all your snow. Glad that you have all made it thru so far.
