HAPPY BIRTHDAY RON!!!

Cuter by far! I might build them a house they can live in outside, kind of like a bird house.

Many years ago, I had several bluebird houses in trees around the yard. One year, I'm afraid I left cleaning them out to rather late, and when I pulled the bottom off of one, all these small, furry things fell out with the nest material! The largest one scampered up the tree, and I got a good enough look at it to realize this was a flying squirrel and her brood. I felt terrible! I did a quick look-up, and learned that flying squirrels aren't bothered much by people, so I carefully put the nest back in the box and inserted the five little fuzzies in through the door. I watched from inside our house as the mother worked her way down the tree and back in.

That was the first and only time I have seen flying squirrels in person. They are actually pretty common here, but since they are nocturnal, they aren't usually seen and a lot of folks don't even know they exist.
