The Old Folks Home

Giant is fairing much better in other coop, they love him, no probs,
He is one BIG boy!!

This part of the year has been an adventure....
And it isn't even 2 months old!!

:love the cat choir

I discovered this in the snowbank in front of our mailbox and excavated it further to discover:
MANY years ago (and 3 houses) I found the payment to the paper carrier like that in the spring. I had already paid it a "second" time 2 months earlier.

Reminds me of the old joke about the old doctor who was asked what he would do if a patient dropped dead in the doorway of his office and he replied, turn him around so it looked as though he was coming in.....so did the letter wind up in the ice going in or coming out? Hmmmmmmm. I just hope it isn't a pass due bill....like utilities and your lights are about to be turned off. Not good.

As for the tree. Bummer. Yes, I'd be screaming to the local post master. They should be accountable and reimburse you.

Broody needs to be invited to dinner. Little witch. Went out three times to check on things....freezing rain, just plain nasty out and each time she was off the nest, beat hastily back when she saw me except for the last time when I grabbed my ice cream pail packed with towels, wrapped my little eggs back up and marched them into the house and cranked up the Brinsea. I'm a more dependable broody than she is. There were two bantam cross eggs in a nest. I marked them, tossed them in her nest and told her that was all she was getting. Knock herself out. She's been very nervous. I did some work on the adjacent nesting box and she went psycho. Ran around the coop for a minute then bounced back on her nest. Hopefully she is just very young. Just 8 months old so she will settle down with time.

okay are you prepared for mondo eggs time put it in a separate pocket to get it in the house :gig

The Meiwa Kumquat showed up today. I had to refuse delivery. The box was not only crushed from someone standing on it, but they had cut into it in 2 places on 2 sides cutting it nearly in half. I called the grower to let them know. So they said they will ship a new one when that one is returned.
I asked my mail lady how in the world that happened? She said she had no idea.
Seems stupid, why pay to ship it back? When our metal trash can got dented they just wrote it off. We just had to send a picture.

When you refuse delivery it's returned for free. So the grower can see the condition. And so my post master will see I'm not going to accept that crap.

You did notice the blood streak on that egg, didn't you, Pen?:eek:Owie! BIG owie!

Our mailman is a bit of a doof but we have never gotten a package delivered in that shape.

Starke Bro nursery doesn't even make you return a failed tree. Just call em and they send you a new one. Easy Peasy.
