The Old Folks Home

I took two eggs out of the Brinsea but the rest are developing as far as i can tell. Those quail eggs are hard to candle! They are supposed to be hatching on the 20th, same day as my biopsy is scheduled. Also on the day, DQ is giving out free ice cream cones. Bonus!

Oh boy! Those take so much time!

We are in a slow time now. @Cynthia12 finished an early hatch though. There are some posts about wonky air cells and how they happen. Running with an egg in the pocket? Maybe if you Bounce real high with each step? Some doubt that though. Eggs were not shipped but several had saddle air cells....Did the seller let a toddler collect the eggs?

Maybe James Bond was practicing cocktail making...Shaken, not stirred....

I can't wait until the hatching starts

Okay, here is my chick porn. Three of four. #4 is hiding behind Cuddle Monkey who has been liberated from the older chicks, cleaned and employed for use as a surrogate mom. The moment I put it in the brooder, the new babies crawled under it.

I love the coloring on the little one on the right. If you look carefully over the top of the chick in the back, you can see #4 with his butt in the air.

I love the chip monk chicks!

In some breeds, the solid line by the eye is more likely a pullet too

I'd really love to have a couple of turkeys. Every time I bring up the subject though I get asked how many chickens I have today......that man of mine really knows how to win a battle....:lau

I was very popular out at the coop tonight. I took out a big bowl of left over spaghetti and macaroni that I had left over from two different meals. Nothing brings out the velociraptor in a flock faster than dangling a handful of spaghetti in front of their little beaks.

Usually if I give them something big I'll rip it up, cut it up, whatever it is to give them all a fair chance. One day I had to get to work and saw there was a big leftover pork chop on a plate (normally there is no leftover pork chop, I scavenge the kids plates) didn't have much time so I just threw it in their run. One of the funniest things I ever saw, wish I took a vid of it. Only watched a few minutes but I bet it was a long time before one actually got a chance to take a bite. It was like hardcore touch football/keep away, each one took a turn snagging it and running toward the other end of the run, then another would get it and the mob would run the other way after it :gig
