The Old Folks Home

Me too--a clasic chick! :love

Anyone doing the Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch a long??? I looked at the threads for the last couple years, and none of the original hatchers, or is it hatchees, have participated. We all meet here though!!
I don't know about the C D M HAL... that would mean setting April 7, right?

Usually if I give them something big I'll rip it up, cut it up, whatever it is to give them all a fair chance. One day I had to get to work and saw there was a big leftover pork chop on a plate (normally there is no leftover pork chop, I scavenge the kids plates) didn't have much time so I just threw it in their run. One of the funniest things I ever saw, wish I took a vid of it. Only watched a few minutes but I bet it was a long time before one actually got a chance to take a bite. It was like hardcore touch football/keep away, each one took a turn snagging it and running toward the other end of the run, then another would get it and the mob would run the other way after it :gig

I used to love watching them fight over silly things like that. It's better than tv! :lau

My latest number, 6 babies. Staggered hatch. More to come, then....the HAL eggs. From my own back yard this year. Had to place my rooster last night though. Too noisy now.

Had to add. The funniest thing I ever saw with my birds was the day I tossed them the well picked over half of a turkey carcass. Buff Orpingtons aren't the most graceful birds God ever breathed breath into but when one has half a turkey rib cage in its mouth along with the spine and it's galloping across the run with a half a dozen of it's fluffy big butted friends chasing after it, you will laugh until you are in tears.

Runner up was last Thanksgiving when I tossed a turkey leg bone in the run and one of the bantam hens snapped it up. She was carrying it like a dog, once again the rest of the flock in hot pursuit. I think I said 'Run Spot Run, See Spot Run!'
