Like candling Welsummer eggs, Penny. I always took mine in a closet with a strong flashlight. Only way I could even make an educated guess.
Y'all have a good night.
well that is one huge puzzle of ick!I'm not sure that Miss Piggy, the showgirl I have, is a girl or not. Never crowed or laid an egg or mated... so??
I got these from Al's Quackery, which is down by Portland. 17 is the total number, the rest were dead in shell, in various stages of ick. Most were fully formed, some were incredibly wet, others were very dry. Some hadn't absorbed the yolk, others had. One had quit early in the game and was a very icky smelly mess.
since he WASN'T next to your house, pretty coolFollowed this little bugger, grey fox for miles, 10-15mph.. Had plenty like the whole time to dart off the side, just kept going, went on so long I figured I had to get a vid, us fools with our phones. Had to squash it and cut it (the vid not the fox) to get a gif to post here, pretty much the same thing just kept going and going. Suckers lucky wasn't near my house or I might have dusted him.

It's still coming down - supposed to get another 4 to 6 inches today.
But I went out and snowblowed and rescued the ducks, goats and chickens.
And dog.
The dog did not understand why I wouldn't just open the door and let her in the house already. The yellow thing is my shovel.

Snowblowing out past the goats to the ducks. For scale my blower is 24 inches wide and 21 inches tall, and I wasn't hitting solid ground.

Best I could tell "mid thigh" is the number of inches we got.

Are the silkies from your flock?? Adorable! Love that blue! Oh, and of course the Nn!
he looks like a dappled horseMan, huge snow flakes coming down! Biggest we've seen in years. Here is DH coming in from closing the gate. Check out that flake on his shoulder. The snow looks like streaks..but they are huge and round. Pretty cool looking. View attachment 1296909i
