Mine have never had any, I'm too cheap to buy them and haven't gotten interested in raising them.

I did take out some mealworms, so he could call them over. Yes, he tries to dip his wing, and dance around them, but they run off. He will win them over. He's a good rooster. He's patient.

They don't suffer. BOSS every morning, scratch every night. Usually an apple core 6 afternoons a week. And of course kitchen scraps. Plus, in the non winter months, all the bugs they can find.

My old girls, buff Os and Wellys LOVE Primo, the alpha rooster. Big boy Buff O and Welly cross. He's great with the girls and so is his brother......when he lets him near them. Problem is, When I pull Primo and put my Welly roo with them, they let me know they want Primo back. He will stand on one side of the fence and they will stand on the opposite side and act all droopy. Put Primo back and it's party time. Makes me feel bad for Doc, the Welly boy. He is so sweet and low roo on the totem pole. He is very submissive with the other roosters also which doesn't help him out much.

sad thing is, my rooster is a Polish white crested black...now a mud crested soggy bird!

Well hopefully his girls will clean him up later. Lol

When I had rabbits the soldier flies loved their droppings. I would take a shovel full and dump it in the chicken run and the chickens would go crazy! Soldier fly lave is like boss!
And it's FREE!

I realized something this evening. I've been doing quite a bit of cooking that involves large pots, and I baked a cake, so that means I put it in a large Tupperware cake holder. I looked at the stack of large items, and this sense of dread came over me thinking about trying to fit them into the dishwasher. Then it dawned on me that so far, the new dishwasher has been able to accommodate everything I've thrown at it. That sense of dread left.

I never realized I was dealing with that kind of dread before, but I was. It wasn't overwhelming, but there nonetheless. There was relief, and joy when everything fit in the new one so nicely, without having to keep rearranging things to make them fit, yet not waste electric, and water by not filling it to capacity. One more reason to love my new dishwasher.

I started raising mealworms awhile back, and they're doing very good, so it was easy to grab a handful for him to be able to call his new ladies.
