The Old Folks Home

I started raising mealworms awhile back, and they're doing very good, so it was easy to grab a handful for him to be able to call his new ladies.
good deal, worm farmer! I never raised any worms.:highfive:

My old girls, buff Os and Wellys LOVE Primo, the alpha rooster. Big boy Buff O and Welly cross. He's great with the girls and so is his brother......when he lets him near them. Problem is, When I pull Primo and put my Welly roo with them, they let me know they want Primo back. He will stand on one side of the fence and they will stand on the opposite side and act all droopy. Put Primo back and it's party time. Makes me feel bad for Doc, the Welly boy. He is so sweet and low roo on the totem pole. He is very submissive with the other roosters also which doesn't help him out much.
Please don't make me jealous, I have always wanted a Buff Orpington or two.

featherhead, we had to teach my grandkids to say "grandma raises bugs, and grandma raises worms" instead of "grandma's got bugs" or "grandma's got worms". The looks I've gotten from the parents of their friends.....
:lau:lau:lau:celebrate
Thank you for that! I will take note of that, right after I stop laughing!

Yeah, they are great. My last pure bred Buff O rooster, Rocky has ocular Marek's and is completely blind in one eye. He's a funny clown of a bird and very dedicated to the hens to the point that the alpha Primo, allows him to be beta. I have one that is a cross between Primo and one of my buff colored bantam mixes. Funny little rooster comes out and tries to hump my foot every night at lock up.

I'm taking back every nice thing I've said about my bantam roosters. Little monsters have gone full hormonal on me. They don't make a wrong turn around me but they are brutal with one another. Makes me suddenly realize why they call them GAME birds. Tonight one of the smallest was beat up. I picked him up and discovered that he had broken the tip off of his upper beak. No biggie. It will grow back in 8 weeks. He was pretty much a bloody mess but when I put him down went right back at it with one of the other smaller roosters. Tomorrow I get the triangle coop done or at least finished to the point that I can haul it out and shove more roosters into it. I'm sure the hens will appreciate the gesture and the roosters will still beat one another up whether they are in with them or in their own confined area.

Funny little monster birds. It really makes you see them as velociraptors.
