The greenhouse is a 20' x 50' double-walled poly. We have two different heat sources in there; a typical greenhouse heater that burns gas, and a wood burning stove. The stove does a good job, but it's a pain to have to feed it through the night, and of course temperature regulation is tough; as much as is possible, the gas heater acts as an insurance policy. The cover that is currently on the house has an infra-red coating that is surprisingly good at reducing heat loss. The previous cover didn't have the IR coating, and we've been very pleased with how much less fuel it has taken to keep things cozy. It cost a little more, but we believe it has made up for it in fuel savings.

morning all our greenhouse has been a issue from day 1 .. it is a geodesic dome
same as my main coop there is no polly in this world that can stand up to our weathers that size may play with it later try to reduce it down

its my understanding that the translucent panels help with the heat and all you need to do is run either a potbelly or a Rocket mass heater.... a small one. then keep the compost pile in there good for some more heat. by the time you are done you will have natural rainfall in there....

Thanks but feeding the woodstove in the house all winter is enough for me!

Have you ever tried the underwear trick where you visualize people that intimidate you as wearing only underwear?

That could be scary depending on what you visualize!

Damn fool FedEx delivery guys! Last one left DD1's package right in front of the storm door to the porch, clearly in view of the sign that says "Please put packages inside". I stepped on it.

Today the guy left DW's package on the landing to the OTHER door even though the package says "Leave on porch". What, he can't tell that a landing up 4 steps and outside a door to a porch is not ON the freaking porch????? Luckily DW saw it, lightly covered in snow This is her "do not freeze" super expensive Humira. She thought it was either coming yesterday or Tuesday. According to tracking it was delivered at 10:40 this morning.

My FedEx notification thing now has 3 alternate spellings of my first name. DD1's, DD2's and DW's. Not sure if they will trigger emails to me or not. Guess we will find out. I suppose now I need to chain off the path to the steps and put out "Burma shave" signs leading from the road to the proper door and a sign on the ground that says "PUT THE PACKAGES INSIDE, FOOL!"
