Mom used to wait till dark then whack the nest down with a broom handle. then show me the babies inside in their various stages.... The throw it in a coffee can with a lid and throw it in the trash can.
Course wasps here may be different. But she did that back when my son was about four to show him the nest....

Im highly allergic so I wouldn't want to attempt that,however that is way to cool your Mama showed & taught you both
