The Old Folks Home

I was up to four am after the dog came and got me at three. She was sooo funny she comes in the hall and stares at me to see if I am a wake. I sleep with the TV on a dvd. I said" What you doing out there" she hopped up and down and ran out of view. She came back further in the room. "I see you" She jumped up and turned around in mid air and ran out of the room. She came in as far as me seeing the top of her head about at my knee. "Do you want to go out" She about killed her self turning and leaping out of the room.

I LOVE your dog, sight unseen! What a lovely, smart, engaging girl! :love

The dough raised nicely! It is amazing when your consider it is sourdough--not any commercial yeast

Ron, I have wanted to take you up on your very generous offer of a free starter, but truthfully, I'm "scared" of the commitment needed to maintain it. I don't have the energy, or desire to bake bread daily or even every other day. I'm afraid I'd be wasting it. I have had "friendship bread" starts before and they all went to waste. I love the "idea" of daily fresh baked bread. I don't even know how to care for it or use it. For example, I always thought a sponge was used when washing dishes or the car :duc:oops:

We're you near the Azores I knew someone who lived there:idunno
I was deployed to the Azores multiple times for months at a time. We were on the Air Force base located on the island of Terciera. Beautiful place, friendly people, excellent food/wine/eateries. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terceira_Island

No we were around Lisbon the whole time. I would go back in a minute, it was fabulous.
I had the opportunity to visit Lisbon as well. I agree... I'd love to re-visit and stay for a bit where work wouldn't interfere.

It's on the bucket list for when I win the powerball or megamillions... I'd hope/want to fly to those places on my personal Gulfstream ;) Can get a nice used G-550 circa 2006 used for ~$12-13 million. Since they're about $50 mil new, I see that as almost a steal! Someone else already paid the depreciation and I'll have a 20 thousand hour+ capable jet with 3-5 thousand hours (or less!) on it. I'd most likely want to take a few friends along for the ride. ;) Know anyone who might want to tag along? I'm sure I'll have lots of friends if I win...

I also remember quite a few little mom & pop eateries in what WAS the armpit of the Mediterranean (late 70s into the 80s); Naples, Italy. Home of the US Sixth Fleet. Spent a few port of calls there when aboard the Kennedy. Course there were designated areas one was forbidden to go to and of course that's exactly where many of us ended up going... Tell a sailor where NOT to go and you've just sealed that sailor's doom... :gig
Really? I went on two Med cruises and a South American cruise when I served on the USS America, but deff. the Med.. I partied hardy In Naples and Rota, Spain when I was on ship.. My fave port was Palma, Spain.. We did stop at Rio twice on the S.A. cruise;).. I tell everyone who wants to join the military: "If you want to look good go Marines, but if you want to travel and eat good the Navy is the way to go, lol.. I'll post some pics from my cruise books one of these days.. Lol, good luck with that Gulfstream 550, put me on the list of friends, I'll bring a bottle of Chivas Regal so you don't feel like you're paying for everything :D:cool:

Certain. They're in a chain link enclosure and don't get visitors, except the rats. I did see another rat last night (alive). Traps generally don't work here, I put them out and the rats are smart enough to know what's up.

Going to be hot as hades here today.

Trying to catch up on some chores that were avoided due to working too much and then the cemetery work the last 4 weeks. Anyone have fun weekend plans?
Went to out kids gender reveal. I have video, but I can never get them to post here, don't want to mess with YouTube? Anyway, they used silly string. Poor kids got covered after the count of three...here is a ball that our son made out of it after gathering most of it up.
