The Old Folks Home

We caught a raccoon in our trap, but I’m not sure how many more there are or if that was all it was. Some of my girls were dragged away.
Yet another post I can't "like". Glad you got that one, sorry it got some birds first.

If you catch one or see one, there are usually at least 5 more of them
So far I've been lucky. The one that killed a couple of hens 2 years ago was moved to the woods and I didn't see any others until last spring when I was surprised to find one in the trap set for woodchucks. Of course with coons, not seeing isn't the same as "aren't around".

Mawmaw glad you caught the coin. Hopefully there won't be any more.
Is that like catching the brass ring on a carousel?

That's spell check I guess. I typed coon. My phone just tried to change it 2 more times. Lol

At least the babies were safe. The three hens I have left have a new coop in the barn, across from Ariel and her litter. No one messes with mama pig.

I've used it as run netting and I've had ice decimate the stuff. Problem is my runs are all odd shaped so I am pretty much locked into using the heavy deer netting the next time I replace it.....which will be before winter. That stuff just doesn't hold up. Don't tell the birds of prey that though. They are certain that the roof is covered with wire.

You plant savvy folks out there. Can Roundup be used to control grass in an iris bed and if it can at what strength? Also if it can't be used, what can be used that doesn't kill iris?

Went out tonight to gather eggs and lock up. The hens approached me and offered to take their eggs door to door. I asked them why. They told me they wanted to earn some money to give me. I asked them what ever for? Seems like they want me to get all the roosters caponed. They even volunteered to do it themselves if I would just buy them the equipment. Forget local anesthetic. They will get them to bite down on a chunk of wood or hit them in the back of the head with a rubber mallet.

I told them to get over it and squat more.

What they told me to do can't be printed.......
