The Old Folks Home

Bruce I dont mind the seeds in the blackberries but dh does not like them they get stuck in his teeth.
I can see that. And of course people with diverticulitis can't have the seeds either.

But this trip they are supposed to use an app for a map, (and they need the app, a real map won't do, because where they need to go changes depending on where everyone else has been) ... and for recording stuff... Spouse showed me... it is pretty involved.
But they aren't getting sent out solo, vying against one another right?? What is wrong with them buddying up with one of their more "modern" (and poor from the monthly contract) friends?

Morning all.

I use cheese cloth and strain my blackberries when I want to make jam from them. Makes a world of difference. Neighbor gave us a jar of their blackberry jam, unstrained, and every time I ate any of it I was picking seeds out of my teeth for days. What is real agony is getting one under a partial plate or bridgework, both of which I have. It makes me jerk out the partial REALLY fast and as for the bridgework, I'm just flossing under it till the offending seed comes out.

While I love berries, blackberries are not high on my list as snack food. Pitiful since we have about 100 plants. Rotten crop this year. They all froze off at the ground last winter so all of this year's canes were destroyed. New growth did fill in but the few berries we have are sour and have hard spots in them. The birds are loving them as are the chickens!
