Just was on a thread where a person moved from PA to texas. The hens have stopped laying and one died today. The person gave more information and....no chicken feed is given to the flock! They only get to free range and eat "grain" which usually is cracked corn. The hens have not laid eggs in 4 weeks!

The flock is 5 hens. Why do people do this? The Egg farmer I was working with did this in the winter. His hens did not start laying for quite some time in the spring.

Sometimes that is how they did it growing up. Some people think that is what they should be fed. Some folks are just cheap.

Trying to remember what mine was. I used to change mine. I think I had a bantam Nankin, and I know I used a bowl of eggs.
