The Old Folks Home

My phone is a trackphone too, Very difficult reception here at the house-- very spotty. I prefer the flip phone design. Like you I can make calls, and get calls.

I still have the old record player . . . and the records. No flat screen TV's here. ANd my PC is OLD!! lol BUt it works fine. Soccer coach upgraded the hardware for me. Very kind of him.
We're a high tech family in a low tech house. Huge flat screen in livingroom, smaller ones in the other rooms (sports addict here), we all have our own laptops, kindles, etc. Sat tv and internet. All in a house that was built in 1848. No air conditioning, no closets, chickens running around, eggs in the incubator (on day 20). We grow most of our own veggies. I can't help being a technophile...DH's parents got us hooked. We all had to have iphones on the same plan and laptops so that the whole family can keep in constant touch. I do love being able to watch everyone's kids grow up, especially the ones I used to never be able to visit unless there was a funeral.

I stayed up until after 10 last night. I felt like such a rebel.

I got all the roosters done, leaving one lone cornish roo to seed next year's chicken crop. I would certainly recommend them for sheer size to anyone who wants meat birds but who doesn't want the meat bird freaks (cornish cross). The only problem with them is they are wild. They want to roost in trees, they aren't very friendly (they don't attack you, but they don't come running to you with the rest of the flock, they stay back and watch) but the carcasses are fantastic. I'm disappointed that I only had 4 "extra" boys. I've got 4 girls, too, so I have the potential to make some more Cornish next year, but the girls generally don't stay with the flock - they go off in the woods in search of food (see above - wild) so I'm not sure they'd be bred or that I could locate their eggs. I would like to combine the roo with some of my turkens - they make a nice processing bird, too, and easy to kill and clean. Hopefully now that he's alpha he'll stay with the flock and inseminate the girls.

The neighbor came over about an hour ago when I had the last boy on the chopping block and was ready to swing the axe. She brought me some delicious soup, but I'm pretty sure she wasn't expecting to see what she saw. I asked her to help with the turkeys - I'm definitely going to need some help and BF is off looking for bambi. She declined, but only because she couldn't figure out what to do with her kids.

I am in the middle of processing this morning too.

No neighbors so far....

Wolfie, I know the bottom ones are her Halloween costume but I like the top one the most. She is just adorable!

Wolfie, I would have seriously freaked out if your zombie daughter came to my door. Geez Louise, I know it's makeup but, too scary for old people.
