Gosh, show the old girl she's loved and missed and she's thinking she should disappear more? Could this be negative reinforcement here? Guess we ought to show her more love while/when she is here Glad you're OK Diva

Our hummingbirds are usually gone by mid-September, also. For some reason, I only have two of them this year, and they're so busy fighting over the feeder, they don't have time to eat! I think part of the reason we're not seeing them at the feeder so much this year is, we have an 84-acre field right by the house that is filled with pollinator friendly plants. They may be busy out there. I have actually put my finger under the feeding port of the feeder and had them sit on it to eat. I love those little birds, and look forward to their return every May.

We have a feeder also. We've had a sad thing happen for the first time this year. We have seen a nest in the tree ..during the winter when there are no leaves. The nests are so tiny you can't see the nest in the summer. Anyway, had a few babies die, DH found a couple a few days apart. It looked as though they couldn't figure out how to eat out of the feeder. Kept pushing up against the side of the bottle part. Finally came down to a pretty male and female that came to feed. Love them. Fall...saw some pretty colors on the mountains yesterday. We are a bit higher in temps than usual at this this time, high 80s. That's ok, better than those high 90s! No smoke in the air is wonderful, although Utah just had 2 more fires start, one arson, and burnt 300 acres real quick yesterday. Thinking that one will take a while to put our. Not near us, thank goodness. Diva, where have you been?

A few photos of our birds this year. The last one is the male that comes now, didnt get a photo of the female. DI and I happened to be out on the front porch when he showed up. She got a kick out of him.

Actually I have been practicing being "invisible." I've wanted that since I was a kid. Figured if no one could see me, nothing bad would ever happen to me. Besides it was so cool in the old Invisible Man movies, where he would unwrap himself and nothing was there. This was way before cgi - wow.
