I've already had shingles. They are not fun. Didn't even know I'd had chicken pox although they told me at the health dept when I called them that it was possible to have 'silent' chicken pox where you don't break out or you just get a bump or two and may think they are just 'skeeter bites. My dad had a horrible case of shingles and I took care of him so I suspect that is where my exposure came from.I read that the fluid in the shingles rash is rich in the virus that causes chicken pox.

Received word today that our friend passed yesterday. Sad day in our household.

A lot of people do not know that they had chicken pox. You should assume that you had it

Kinda took us by surprise also. He had the cards stacked against him due to some chronic health problems but took exceptionally good care of himself. Plus his wife was an excellent care giver. I'm so sad for her and their daughter who was planning her wedding. No dad to walk her down the isle now.

Just makes a person want to cherish each day you wake up. It can chang so fast.

Good luck, i always felt great the day after that procedure. The stuff they knock you out with is great!

You can't get shingles from someone with shingles, it comes from the CP virus that has been hiding in your spine all those years just waiting to attack. Someone with shingles CAN give chicken pox to someone who has not had them. And yes from the rash fluid. That is why they say to stay away from babies and pregnant women.

So sorry Micro, it did seem like he had been improving though I guess the last thing you posted about him getting out of ICU still didn't seem overly positive.
