The Old Folks Home

Great outfit mutt!

Getting there, finished the roof up this morning after taking the dog for her obligatory 3 mile romp to get the daemons out (now that no one will be shooting at us, thank you Sunday). She's now happily snoring on the couch while we finish.

Need to find the roofing tar for that last row of shingles/roofing nails, and adding skids now. We are going to put it pretty high up to stop the rats from nesting under it. We will have to build a handicap ramp for the ducks so they can get in it. The ground is soooo soft from all the rain and snow, we are going to tear it up trying to put this into place.

Good work!

I have that too, and use it. I do hand wash some of my dishes though, so I think it's time to add just a little bleach to make double sure they are disinfected.
Some things can't go into the dishwasher. knives lose their edge and aluminium is pitted by the soap.

Weak bleach is a good sanitizing agent

Um, hopefully not the mortgage payment.

GWB strikes again. DD1's clock automatically changes time on the DST/ST dates that were in effect when it was made. No way to change it. So she got up late today (though the animals she is tending in another part of town likely don't know or care) and will have to reset her clock every day for about a week. Note that outside N. America, few of those places that do DST followed the change.
We are voting to end daylights saving time here. This might be the last time California does it, joining Arizona

I have an appt. next week i think Thursday.
Does that mean 4 days from today or 4 days from next Sunday?

Any idea how the vote is likely to go? I would love to get rid of DST. Of course we would then need to get DD a new clock, her current one would reset itself every day from mid March to the end of October. Small price to pay.

I would vote to stop it too, and to have us join the Atlantic Time Zone, with Canada.
Except that the ATZ provinces observe the US DST dates *. Thus you would STILL be doing DST.

* I know this because DD1 had to check to see when NB changes, she has a Skype call with the foreign language admin at Mt. Allison on Friday. Wouldn't do to miss it by an hour if they had stuck with the pre GWB dates.

I see a bunch of articles about the EU wanting to end day light savings time too

I have not heard a prediction on if it is likely to pass or not. Some groups are concerned that children will be going to school in the dark more and will cause problems but I do not know if there is a lot of traction for that

Ooohhh, if the entire EU did it maybe we would too.

Nah, we are the 'world leader', everyone has to do what WE do, not the other way around. But a guy can dream, no?
Also, the EU responds to research on things. Here we are more inclined to bash science and not believe the results of research. The EU has come to the conclusion that the negatives of time change are worse than we thought--worse than the benefits
