@microchick, I'm wondering if perhaps the horny young cockerels are harassing her to the point that she is not getting to eat. The posture that you cited sounds as if she had eaten too much too fast, and was trying to get it into her crop. My gut says something other than health issues is keeping her from eating and resulting in her being so thin..
Yeah sour, I wondered about that too. But she has no feather wear on her at all like the flock 'favorites' do and I haven't noticed any 'gang' activity towards the hens since the weather turned cold. She is the only hen with these symptoms.
I just went out with DH. She was sitting with another hen looking quite puny, poor baby. I checked her crop and it was fullish and solid. No mushiness or sour smell. She wasn't happy about it but she got 1/4th cc of Safeguard down. I'll see how she is in the morning.
I'm working on my young cockerel pen. I usually separate them the first of Feb which is usually when the hormones start to creep in to play again. January though can see 10 degree below 0 weather here so I like to keep as many little bodies in the coop as I can for warmth. And frankly it's cold enough that everybody just wants to keep their feet warm on the roost as much as possible and put the he-ing and she-ing on hold.
