The Old Folks Home

Traffic wasn't all that bad really, considering it was after noon/lunch hour on a standard work day. There were "a lot" of cars and trucks when within ~25-30 miles of Dallas proper, but no real slow downs/jams/bumper-to-bumper crawls, even at on/off ramps, where it's generally terrible and extends all the way out to the left most lane. The one thing that I have begun to take much closer (literally) notice of is lane widths...

"The Interstate Highway standards for the U.S. Interstate Highway System use a 12-foot (3.7 m) standard lane width, while narrower lanes are used on lower classification roads. " https://www.google.com/search?q=standard+road+width&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1

"This Act provided a maximum vehicle width of 96 inches (2.44 meters) on the Interstate highway system. Subsequently, the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1976 increased the allowable width for buses to 102 inches (2.6 meters)." https://www.google.com/search?q=standard+vehical+width&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b-1

So there should be, assuming everyone is driving centered in their lane, ~4' of separation between vehicles when side by side. OK, but when they do road construction, they "narrow" all the lanes down to ~10' (or less it seems), cutting the margin for error in half. :barnie

Though driving doesn't bother me, I have begun to get very "sensitive" to separation between myself and vehicles that I'm passing or are passing me. Many times I feel I'm much closer than even the 2 foot allowance on narrow roads and there has become a "pucker" factor and the need to pay much closer attention at those times.

OK, that being said, time for me to get off my butt and get outside working. Gonna try to get the roof on the goat shed before we have 3 days of cold rain starting tomorrow. Hope y'all have a great day!
You might be having peripheral vision changes. Have you had an eye exam recently?

I hope that roof goes up quickly LS!

Guess I don't understand the map. Is that saying some massive percentage of your ancestors came from the British Isles? What about where THEY came from?
And isn't "Jewish" a religion, not a genetic link thing?
Jewish people have kept their genes very pure over millennia. They are from a region in the middle east and a bit of a change from Europe. They are both a religion and a genetic family. You do not have to be involved in the Religion to have the Genes

I got my DNA test results back last month from My Heritage. They do not include the
small number of other nationalities that are listed in the list on this map. I know I have a family from Spain and a small percentage of Jewish in me as well.

Genes in that area are very jumbled up. There was an ice age that sent most of them down to Spain several thousand years ago. After it warmed up, some moved back north.

That says that even if someone was living in the Spanish area, they might have been british

I have a cousin that is a Dr. in Texas he did a study on the blindness that runs in our Pinson family line. From the first Pinson here in the U.S. that we found on a census was blind and so was his brother and most of their descendants. Including my grandmother and my father, brother and two of my kids are legally blind in one eye. Many of my cousins also went blind. So he got the Willis eye clinic to do a study on the genetics of the cousins across the country to see what was causing it. It turned out it's macular denegation. Kids from 5 and up are going blind in this line. And indeed they were Spanish. He hired a professional genealogist to do the genealogy of the two brothers and connect all the cousins who participated in the study. I could not it had to be a male for the Y. So I asked my so if he would and he did. My son is legally blind in one eye and cannot see well out of the other one.
We were told by a historical society in Spain that our Pinzon line came to the U.S. with Christopher Columbus and they owned the Nina and the Pinta and many of the Pinzon relatives were also on that trip and many stayed in different locations along the journey.
On the individual country break down it say's I have relatives in Spain through my DNA.
But they may be British as you say. lol

Thank you for the info on the ice age info.

We did off the wall genealogy amazon has rather disappointing quite vague really I knew already much of what it said... Well got home like 20 minutes ago did a few dishes bought a really great present for the BF reciprocating saw with a table he has wanted one has the place for it so the Son and I picked it up

Just in case anyone wants, or needs to know this: I have a wonderful water filter, and a softener too. As most people know, when using soft water, you greatly reduce the amount of soap you use in the laundry, dish water, and dishwasher. That being said, I use less than a tablespoon of detergent in the dishwasher. The other thing I discovered, is that with soft water, you do NOT need a rinse agent in the dishwasher. They wash perfectly clean without the rinse agent.

That being said, a few days ago, my dishwasher started leaving my dishes with a white film. I re-rinsed the dishes. Nope, the white residue was still on the dishes. I recently changed dishwasher soap, and it's been doing fine, but thought that might be the problem. I washed them using the original product I had been using. Nope, still not clean. I checked to make sure there was enough water. Yes. I checked to make sure the water was hot enough. Yes. I was wracking my brain as to what the problem could be, and was ready to call Bosch to complain, when it dawned on me that maybe Dh had not added salt to the softener. I asked him about it. That son of a gun let the salt run out awhile back, and had did not mention that we needed more salt. We got salt, and added it today. Normally I have it set to backwash every other night. I set it today so it will backwash every night for the next few nights. Dang his hide!
