The Old Folks Home

Yeah, my Mom said she'd kill me if I died first!

In-laws live in a retirement community here in VT, Dad lives in a similar one in So. Cal. Both are "move in healthy, covered to the grave". In both cases the relatives chose to move to their respective places and could still be living in their prior houses. BUT you never know when you will decline. Better to make the decision early. Dad moved 3 years ago when he was 87. I THINK in-laws moved about 10 years ago, time flies might be a few less. MIL is 86, FIL is 93. FIL's remaining sibling, a sister, has been living there maybe 20 years??? She is 101, probably best to be in such a place BUT she is still living independently in her apartment there.

-sigh-

I dislike that stage of life... watching and helping your parents "move on" :hit

Sucks majorly. Sorry you are having to experience it.

:hugs

Becoming the 'parent' to your parent - so very uncomfortable. We went through that with the Princess's parents and then long distance with my Mom - that was even worse. Facing the impending need to 'move on' also sucks majorly. Trust me on that. The Princess and I have been lucky so far. :fl

If anyone is still up, bundle up, go outside, and look at the moon. It will be worth it. We watched the color go from silver to red. Tonight is a Blood Moon.

Blood wolf Moon, the fog set thick tonight here like pea soup
think I need to go to bed been a long day Goodnight

:mad::mad:

Below zero here, and clear sky, I actually looked up at the moon once, completely forgot about it...grrr

@superchemicalgirl :hugs
I wish our weekend could have been the one that some one here suggested; that we were having a fun time together somewhere. I hope your extra day ended better than it began. I'm glad you saw your great aunt.
I was in TX to help my parents figure out whether to move into an assisted living facility or try to get the required help at home. Dad has stage 4 melanoma and Mom has a progressive lung disease. Looks like many frequent flyer miles in the near future. All prayers appreciated.
Hug 'em while you got 'em!

We definitely needed that weekend together, not what we got.

I'm at the gate now waiting for my first flight .
