The Old Folks Home

sour, you are so right!

I just put 2 more chicks in the brooder. I've been allowing a lot of time in between removing them from the incubator, so I don't shrink wrap them. In a little bit, there is 1 egg I'm going to check on. I'll steam the bathroom, wrap it in a warm moist paper towel, and check on it. It was rocking last night. The chicks turned it from the X side, to the O side. I'm not sure if that will disorient it.

Good Morning, Folks!
Clue, I'd love to come visit your 80's for a few days. I'm at the point of longing to be able to feel heat from the sun. I have a warm house and the furnace works, but it's not that soak-into-your-bones kind of heat. I long for that this time of year. Have a fun day at the fair!

My brother has a Tesla and is finding out electricity is darn expensive.
He needs solar panels! Does he have graduated rates? That could really raise the cost of "filling up". And how much is the electricity cost per mile versus gas cost per mile in a similar size car?

Hi everyone. The sun is out here for the first time in I don't know how long. Birds are handling the single digit and below zero temps we have been having.

I survived them too but am SOOOOOO ready for spring. Everything here this morning is glazed with 'glass' after the two days of ice we enjoyed here.

Still getting used to only two dogs underfoot. So strange after so many years of having 5 pooches around. The brother and sister pair are doing well though and have acclimated a lot better than we have to the changes in life.

I survived my latest doctor's appointment. I'm up to 37 pills a day now....oh well, that which does not kill us makes us stronger. Over and above a definite sensitivity to cold, I'm doing better physically so I'm hoping the worst is behind me now. I'll know that for sure when I see the Rheumy in two weeks. And yes, I'm getting a better grip on the changes life is handing me. Got to talk to old friends from our working days last night and discovered they are dealing with the same stresses that we are. She broke both bones in her forearm and he is considering retirement....and has gout. They are like DH and I were, a husband doc with wife office manager working together. They had also lost their dog to old age recently.

It made me feel a lot better after talking to them. Hope you are all feeling well, surviving the winter and like me looking forward to spring.
