The grands would learn real quickly not to touch the fence the first time one of them got scratched. Natural consequences, and all that. I have to think, though, that if the fence is on the neighbor's property, the kids shouldn't be near it anyway. Or would it butt right up to where they play frequently? When Verizon ran our new fios line, they cut across the corner of our neighbors property line because they didn't want to run it through the ditch, or through the culvert. Shame on them. Our neighbor is putting up more fence, because Amazon, and USPS when they leave his place, they cut across the drive, instead of going all the way out to the road and turning back in to our driveway. He cut our cable. Dh went to look at it, and the neighbor told him Verizon was not authorized to run the cable on his property. He's also putting in a barbed wire fence. I told Dh the neighbor was 100 percent in the right. It's his property, and he can do whatever he wants to on it. Dh is upset about the fence being barbed wire. He mentioned the grands getting all cut up on it. My kids were raised with barbed wire fences on the lake property, and did fine. He just can't understand how I'm siding with the neighbor. Like I told him, we can do whatever we want on our property, and the neighbors have no right to tell us what to do, or run their cables on our property. They have the same rights on their property too, and I'll respect that.
Hooray for chicks! Beautiful quilt as always, SCG.So far one turken, 2 mutts, 3 ayam cemani and a quilt.
I have 2 incubators going. So far all the hatches were in the crappier auxiliary incubator which was apparently running warmer than the good incubator. The other incubator is starting to have pips.

Congratulations scg both on the chicks and the quilt. That quilt should definitely redeem you, and then some.
I have to share something. The grand baby (3) dragged her chair from the kids table, to the incubator, and when anyone would go look in it, she looked too. When the first chick popped out, she sang the Happy Birthday song to it. She sang Happy Birthday to each one that hatched. She talks, and sings to them a lot. They don't seem very skittery when she's around them.

My 3-y/o granddaughter lives 3 1/2 hours away. She loves to go to the chickens and pick eggs when she's here. I am tempted to fire up the incubator and set some eggs this spring, making sure she could be here when they hatch. I'm imagining the chicks starting to cheep "Happy Birthday" soon. When it happens, we will expect a video!Grandbaby is teaching the chicks the ABC song now. They're all just looking up at her, quietly listening.. It's hilarious.
PS I forgot one part re: ring. After I gave it to him he announced "I liked the big ring better but, figured you couldn't afford it."![]()
