The Old Folks Home

Well, hubby is doing well in one area, not so well in another. Went for his physical today. Had had lab work done, found out that he is in stage 3 kidney failure. What? Dr. said it had been going down for a while. Just had my husband start seeing this guy. My Dr. His retired. Never a word about his kidneys.
moms going through that they are monitoring as well.... Shes 84

Cyn and Perchie, nice to see you both but bummer on the health news.

I just went outside to do morning chores. I did the ducks first, and then when I came out of the goat haus (right next door) I heard, clear as day, a man off in the woods behind the duck house say "hello."
Now, mind you, it's 4 am, cold and dark, and I live in the middle of nowhere.
The ducks all freaked out too, and looked back behind their house, off into the woods.
There should not be a man in my woods. I cannot see him and I hear nothing else.
I realize my "guard dog" is still snoring away on the couch, so I hightail it back to the kitchen door (as much as I can on thick ice) and wake her butt up and make her go outside. She doesn't notice anything abnormal, goes about her business. I hear or see nothing else and finish the chores up.
Still mildly panicking I realize I'm wearing a pair of stretchy pants with sewing machines, buttons and pincushions on them as well as a shirt with a very, very inappropriate design on it.

This is not the outfit that I want to go missing in. I mean I don't want to go missing, ever, but this is definitely not the outfit I want splashed on the news.

I basically penguin run back to the garage, lock the door, then come upstairs and get the dog, who still hasn't noticed anything out of the ordinary.

Now she's on the couch (because she is lazy) and very lowly growling while looking out towards the front of the house. But, she does that a lot (and if the snowplow goes by it's all out panic).

I'm really not even sure there was someone/something out there, but I'm wide awake, now.

I would have hollered back "Hi and Who are you..." But thats me...

I've heard coyotes out there and I've seen bear poop, but this was much more scary .
He could have just been wanting NOT to surprise you if you saw him... Could have been quite a few benign things that brought him in to your orbit....

going to see the Dietician today.... Eeek

appt at one but I have a mess of work to do.
NOthing worrying except to weigh in and show her my diet log.
Not looking forward to the "lecture"

Before any suggestions this is the "Diet" required by the insurance Its 1800 calories taylored for a Type 2 Diabetic. Its not to Proove you can loose weight Its designed to proove that you can follow a diet plan... to the insurance company.

For What its worth I have already signed up to Weight Watchers again. The new program will allow people who have had Gastric Sleeve or by Pass surgery to join... Yay. To Quote the leader Its all about teaching you to eat and live... Because we all have to eat.

I did Keto... But it made me sick in a way that wasnt good.

Good luck today!!

Perchie and Cynthia, no diet is easy.

Last year about this time I went on my diet. Low carb, no red meat. I started measuring my portions which was the BIG change that I did and boy did it work. Plenty of healthy snacks. Unlimited fruit, fat free cheeses, those flavored rice cakes (cardboard patties as I call them) and all the veggies I could shove in my face. The result was I went from 148 pounds (I'm only 5'2" tall so I looked like a concrete block with stick arms and legs) to my current weight of 120. I would like to lose 5 more pounds. Doc wants me to hold where I am. I now eat homemade bread to keep my weight around 120 but still eat small portions of meat along with loads of veggies and fruit.

I hope to loose those last 5 pounds when spring comes and I can start to jog again.

I've found I have no tolerance for sweets anymore nor any cravings. My big treat is to have cinnamon toast for breakfast and even that amount of sugar seems to be over the top for me. I think part of it is due to the Methotrexate I'm still taking but whatever it is I still plan to go on with this diet because I feel as though I am eating healthier than I ever was.

Hugs to both of you:hugsI know how long and rough rough the road you are on is. But if you stick with it, you will never regret it.

Thank Cynthia and congrats to you too on reaching your goal. :celebrate:clap:clap:clap:celebrate I know what hard work it is.

I've lost almost 3 sizes also. Problem here is finding clothing in smaller sizes is almost an exercise in futility. Most of the stores carry a few 'small' sizes that quickly sell out leaving only the larger sizes. Read where the average size for clothing has increased with average weights so finding clothes to fit smaller sizes is becoming harder all the time.

I went from a size 10 to a size 6-8. I went down to a 6 before but it was impossible to find clothes to fit as I'm long legged. I have something like a 30-31 inseam so petite clothes are too short for me. I have to find sizes 8 to 6 in regular to tall. Easier to find size 8s which is another reason to hold my weight where it is.

With the Methotrexate and the anti-inflammatory diet (which I've got to admit I've been cheating on a bit with the cinnamon toast) I don't see that happening.
