The Old Folks Home

Micro I find myself checking your name under the new avatar often. I keep forgetting that is YOU now. If I changed my avatar again, bet I wouldn't recognize mine either.:gig
I know. I saw the little dancing buff o hen avatar the other day on another thread and said am i losing my mind? I don't remember posting this. Then looked at the member's name and had a well Duh moment.

Gonna have to come up with a new avatar by spring. Buck's snow pic works for winter but I'm all snowed out.

I've been in plenty of woods, and heard plenty of owls. I've yet to hear one say "hello". From now on, if you're prowling around at 4 am, take the dog with you. Ripley is young, but would probably growl, or bark if someone is sneaking up on you.

As to someone stopping out on the main drive, and then walking towards my porch, I'd have flipped the light on first, then grabbed a firearm, and been ready. Don't worry, the sound of gunfire will wake a sleeping husband.

It's not even close yet. I'm afraid. I know Spring is coming when I see the migratory flocks of Canadian geese Snow geese, swans and ducks flying over. Sometimes the flocks are so huge it takes a whole morning for them to fly over.

So far not one solitary honk has been heard.

We had a screech like a dying women one night I beat the Gunner my last belgian to the door was at the folks there where state grounds behind them not unusual there to be wildlife we decided that was a owl they do not say hello in any tone please take a gun that is the only way to be safe @superchemicalgirl

I agree with Penny.....just in case.

Barred owls around here are described as hooting, Who cooks for you Who cooks for you all. Great horned have a clear spooky Hoot. Never heard any own say Hello. I've heard calls going on back and forth by the local owl population that sounds almost like laughter. Very spooky just after dark coming from the timber.

Don't know if it is courtship calling or juveniles calling out for their parents.

Got my broody in the broody buster. She is one po'ed little hen. Makes me glad they can't pull a trigger. But she worries me. With their history, she doesn't need this physical stress. Even if she pops out of it, her body weight is down so she may be my next loss. Hope not. She is a very sweet little hen.
Hoping she will be ok!
