The Old Folks Home

Supposed to be spring tomorrow, yet we still have enough snow that the dog can look me in the eye while I do dishes ... I'd say it's still about 3 feet deep there.

Happy first day of Spring!

The Person that lost the pullets I raised for them is of course blaming the dogs. They were dumped off strays and have been caught and sent to Animal Control.

I doubt that the coop and husbandry methods will change. This is the second loss of a flock caused by stray dogs there. You would think that changes would be made to protect the flock!

I totally understand ron. When I raised dogs - it seemed like almost every litter had one BIG male pup, sweet as sugar but can I say HOMELY? Couldn't sell them but, I was able to give away two through someone I thought was a friend. She took them back to Iowa with her and said they got good homes. UH HUH!! Then she would eventually say they both got killed - running in the street to fetch balls. :rant:mad::hit

It is hard to see stuff like that happen!

When someone makes an excuse, like stray dogs, sometimes it's best to interject that it's not the stray dogs, foxes, and raccoons at fault. The fault lies with the owner not keeping the flock safe from stray dogs, foxes, raccoons, etc. Still, I would never sell, or give them another chicken.
