The Old Folks Home

I've put in my order for 10 BA chicks. The breeder is hatching from his stock this year. He gave notice to a select few that he'd hatch extra for them, if they wanted them. I'm in good standing, so I was able to order some.

As to the $10.00 eggs my daughter ordered, and I hatched out, they're doing pretty good. They are in the breakfast nook area, which is where the Barbie house is set up. The kids play a in that area a LOT, and talk to the chicks. Of course, they make noise, drop toys, etc., so the chicks are bomb proof. They are not very skittish at all, and run towards anyone approaching the cage door, instead of running away. They aren't afraid when you put your hands in. They are not overly afraid of being grabbed, and picked up.

When I get my new chicks, these will already be outside, so I'm going to put the new ones in the same place, and let the kids do their thing.

Question to anyone who owns Silkies here: Does your rooster sound like you're letting air squeal out of a balloon when he crows? :lau
Nearly all of the cockerels I have hatched sounded funny at first. They got much better and louder as they grew though

Note that they are not mine, I'm still in Florida. These kids were born next door to the place where I am staying. The 2 families work together with goats. I'm flying home tomorrow.
Understood, but they are still bleepin cute!

Today is DH and my 12th anniversary. No big plans since I can't go out to eat. Just spending the day together. On our wedding day in Casa Grande Arizona, it was 98 degrees. We got up early, went for a bike ride, then went hiking in the foot hills near by for the rest of the morning. In the afternoon we found a shooting range and had fun with the locals there who were target practicing getting ready for a competition. Got back in time to clean up and go into town. It was so hot we wore shorts and t-shirts. I wore a tank top as did the best man and his wife. Afterwards we went out to eat with our friends. Kept the whole thing secret with the exception of two friends back in IL who were watching our house for us. We wanted it that way. We surprised our families later that day with phone calls and emails. Not only had a great day but best of all, I married my best friend and sweetheart. It was the happiest day of my life and 12 years later we are still going stronger than ever.
