The Old Folks Home

Mealworm cookies. Part of me wants to gag and the other part is curious......but not TOO curious. I bet chickens would love them.

Quiet day planned for here today. Not much going on. Going to make another loaf of bread in the bread maker. The first loaf turned out well. A little dense though so I need to experiment a bit.

Anybody use a bread maker machine and know a remedy for dense bread?

The babies are doing well and growing. Their little personalities are starting to shine through. Definitely one rooster in the bunch. I hear him give out alert trills whenever the cats venture into the hobby room and yesterday I saw him give one of the girls a peck on the head when she bumped into him. They are less skittish when we walk by them also.

I candled TRex's eggs last night for the first time. Tiny 'spider' embryos definite in three of her eggs and one is a strong maybe. Betty, my prize broody hen/momma decided to get off the nest when I took away her two larger eggs and gave her three small bantam eggs to sit on. Hopefully she will make up her mind soon or she is just plain bored.

Y'all have a great Sunday!

The mealworms are all done. I dusted, and vacuumed, so it's all cleaned up. There will be NO mealworms associated with my cookies, or anything else in my kitchen. I try to keep a very clean house. Yes, if you drop in there will be clutter. With 3 kids, it's almost impossible not to have some clutter, but as to overall cleanliness, it's clean. That's the biggest point of contention between me, and my daughter. She surface cleans. She wipes spills, but doesn't get the mop, or floor scrubber and actually clean. She vacuums the main areas, but doesn't move furniture, or get into the corners good.

I don't, and have never used sponges in my kitchen. My grandmother used dishrags, and dishtowels. Years ago, I bought a bunch of bathroom washrags, and matching hand towels that looked good in my kitchen. That's what I still use. They're more absorbent than regular dishrags, and dishcloths. Each morning, I get a clean washrag and hand towel for the kitchen. Yes, if I have to use the washrag on the floor, or use one to wipe out the refrigerator, or whatever, or the hand towel is used to wipe up a spill, or gets too wet, it's put in the laundry basket, and I get another clean one. I wash them in with the towels, and I always add a little bleach in my towels, so they're disinfected too. Over time, they get stains, but rest assured, they're clean, and disinfected if used in my kitchen.

I just got done dusting, and vacuuming after tending my mealworms. It's kind of late, so I'll do cookies tomorrow. Dd is taking the kids to their great grandmother's house for the day to visit, so that will be perfect.
Have fun!
