The Old Folks Home

I am thinking of chicks from rjohns, though. Not from the END zone. They changed that name, but it still resonates.
When I get new ones, I will hatch eggs from a safe place.

I mostly do not want to have to slaughter them or have them slaughtered.

I went through that a couple of years ago when I had to get down to 6 hens. I was very sad for quite some time after that

So far the out break is about 600 miles away from me

I know, you are a nice guy. I like to cook them! I am called "the mean Mom" even by my kids! But, not by the grandkids. (Yet).
I still have a couple in the freezer. They make very good soup with the yellow fat on them

And, they think there is a quarantine? Canadian Geese and ducks on over 110 golfcourses in the Coachella Valley!
I do not think that the new castle disease infections are coming from geese or wild birds. It started from fighting cocks from Mexico and then spread to a poultry show. It looks like the spread and continued infection down south in California is caused by those running with infected birds or spreading from clothes or shoes.

It is not the same as Avian flu

Yes, I like to pressure cook them, as you might know. Then, chicken and rice stir fry!
Yes! I have been pressure cooking carcasses and bones for a long time in my pressure cookers.

I have 4 of them now: two fagor stove top models, a pressure canner and an instant pot.

I love them!

I do hope so. The way the CA web site talks about the zone, I have a sad rememberance of the early 2000's and one reason I moved from CA with my flock of parrots.

One case is reported in Coconino county, AZ. Fled from CA, the whole flock died. Very disturbing for us in the very next county over.:(
