I'm glad nobody counts my pet roosters. I gave 16 laying hens and two of my boys to the next door neighbor. That should tell you the whole story about which I prefer, hens or roos.

I do have a favorite pet hen though. She is a little gal, larger than a standard sized bantam but smaller than my other crosses who is a clown and LOVES to hunt mice when I clean the coop. Her name is Mini Mouser. I discovered over the winter months that a field mouse had taken up residence in a concrete block that I was using as a stand for their water. When I cleaned out the block and uncovered a nest of mice, Mini Mouser ate a total of 6 baby mice and one of the parents. I should propigate her as rodent control.

deb, cockfighting is why the patient 0 roosters were smuggled into the country (California), and how it first began to spread. What has being banned, or illegal got to do with it? That doesn't slow it down as much as you'd like to believe. As to the land and housing you're talking about, those involved in cockfighting don't follow those rules either.

Spent about about 5 hours in the cemetery this morning and got 5 headstones reset along with a footstone that I found that happened to go with one of the headstones that needed to be reset in the section I was working. Still a ton of work left in that cemetery, but at least that little middle section is significantly improved.

My hay guys dog ran off last night, neighbor had set off fireworks. I offered to take Ripley over to see if she couldn't find him. If not, at least it was free. We went over (I was filthy and exhausted from the morning). She couldn't find him, but found a small ground nesting bird (that she got in her mouth, twice), coyote poop, a very interesting scent trail that I made her abandon only because I had 18 ticks on me and a turkey on eggs. No dog. :(

Nice job on the stones!

I hope your friends dog shows up!

SGC, at least you know that her nose works!

Great job on the grave markers. We had an abandoned cemetery next door to us in IL. Mound Cemetery. They kept it mowed and VFW did Memorial Day services there but most of the tomb stones were from the early to late 1800. Many were like the ones in your pictures, leaning or broken off. I found many in a pile in the brush behind the cemetery along with many of the marble footings. Always made me sad.

I hope in two hundred years some thoughtful soul does what you do to our grave markers when they fall into disrepair.

I was going to clean coops today. It's pretty warm out, I mowed this morning, MTX shot yesterday. Went to HAM club meeting and dozed off. DH had to nudge me awake twice. Got home. Told DH I was going to go out and shovel some debris out of the coop....yawned...decided tomorrow was the day although if I get my second wind I may move some of the shavings out tonight.

Afterall, when all is said and done, 'tomorrow is another day'.
