The Old Folks Home

Secret to poached eggs is a little Vinegar, makes the whites stay firm.
Used to have way back many yrs ago a poaching pan from grandmas, put a dozen eggs in the pan had holders for them, more like steamed eggs, anyone else have one of those?
Long gone now just remember it.
My Dad had a poached egg cooker with individual metal holders with a handle that stuck out a little.

This recipe is more like a fritata and is very good!

Coddled eggs

Eggs
Butter
mushrooms
Spinach
Thyme
Cheese
Salt and pepper to taste

I set a large skillet on the burner, put the ramekins in and then poured in water till it came to halfway up the sides of the ramekins.

I removed the ramekins for the next part.

I buttered a ramekin, salted/peppered the surface lightly, then in a pan sautéed in butter (or you could use oil instead of any of the butter applications) a tiny bit of shallot, the mushrooms, and the spinach till wilted. (Again seasoning as I went) Then I layered a bit of the sauté into the ramekin, cracked two eggs on it (seasoned) and added another layer of the sauté, sprinkle thyme and then cheese over that.

I turned my burner on the Skillet and heated the water till boiling, before gently putting my ramekins back in. I covered my pan and turned down the heat so the water was simmering and let it cook for about 8 1/2 minutes.

Then I carefully removed the ramekins, using silicone pot holders, and placed them on a tea towel to wipe down before setting on plates. It's a fun little recipe that can be used for all sorts of add ins.

But be warned, due to the uniqueness of the male anatomy, kidney stones are much much harder on men then they are on women and they aren't all that much fun for women either.
Given my "on a scale of 1 to 10, I'll take the pistol to the temple" stone was clogging the ureter on the way to my bladder, I don't think there is a gender difference. Friend of mine said hers was worse than childbirth without pain killers.

I've unfortunately blasted a couple or two (in my coop, first time with a breach )
Unfortunate that they got in the coop, not unfortunate that you blasted them.

I would agree on the pain. For some reason historically the medical community has discounted female pain.

The same thing happens with some minorities. Even with studies that show this, A white male is more likely to be taken seriously when complaining about pain
