The Old Folks Home

Sometimes chicks don't do well in my coop. Many get monkey stomped when broodies fight over them, or when mommas fight to "protect" their area, although many also live and thrive. This one was definitely monkey stomped. I feel awful. We had the brooder set up in the kitchen but I didn't want to just have the one and was hoping momma would protect her out in the coop.

Went to lunch and came back gone less than 3 hours and the poult is dead.

Left here a few hours taking boxes we decided to give the the folks at the auction
dropped the one marans cockerel at the auction yesterday think he was put in the wrong batch of pens with banty only sold for 3 bucks not thrilled

Sadly... no way to know until afterwards. (So don't blame yourself) I would have thought that since she is the TFH, she would have actually protected the little hatchling .
